INTRODUCTION TO MAT WORK TEACHER TRAINING | LONDON

The Full Mat Work Teacher Training Programme is designed to take you through the full classical mat work exercises, THE ORIGINAL 34 exercises, and the correct order that Joseph Pilates created. Through a series of three modules you will learn to teach it with an organised flow and rhythm designed to give a full body workout. Begin here with The Introduction to Mat Work Training .

Description

This Mat work training is open to everyone, to those that have a back ground in PT and want to develop their skills.  It Is also for those that have never taught before and are looking to develop their skills and revenue stream.  If you are already a mat work trained teacher, this weekend is a great addition to help you gain an insight in the way in which the mat exercises was delivered by Mr Jospeh Pilates. 

  • 3 days in person training (see Show Session for dates)
  • Practical Assessment (see Show Session for dates)
  • 30 hours remote self practice and teaching.

 

In this first module, you will Learn how to teach safely, intelligently and correctly.  How to introduce the classical mat repertoire to clients with no previous pilates experience, whilst still maintaining the important flow and rhythm.  Discover how to deliver every exercise with an exacting quality using our unique teaching formal.

You will explore how to teach, a skill in itself.  Using your voice, your hands and your presence, the essential skills of communication. 

We will look at simple anatomy & placement with essential correct muscular recruitment.

Ultimately after this module you will be able to teach to a group in an expert, playful 'Intro Level' Pilates class. 

Apprenticeship

Once the in person course content is covered, you will be required to continue to practice.  You will practice a blend of practical teaching and your own workout practice.

You will have access to the unique Pi Academy Classroom.  The classroom holds online content to practice with, your manual & personal Log to track your training hours.

Required:

30 hours remote teaching practice.  This can be logged virtually via zoom, or in person with your training programme buddies and your friends. It must be tracked and submitted on your Log. *you are always welcome to use Pi Studio to practice in.

10 X Mat classes to be taken ( any classes booked through Pi you can receive a student discount of 15%

 

Assessments

The Intro to Mat Training assessment consists of completing and passing the following.

  • Completion of your student log (30 hours)
  • Part 1.  Written online assessment
  • Part 2. Practical - via zoom or in person 

*the date for your practical is predetermined.  see Show Sessions for date.  However if you are unable to attend this date, you are able to book an alternative day and time for your assessment on a date agreed by Pi Academy, we will also accept Video Submission. Private Test Out Fee £150.00

Prerequisites and Commitment

The prerequisite for the course is such that you should be able to take yourself through the Full Classical Mat repertoire.  On sign up we supply you with a full practice video, and our usual recommendation is 30 Mat classes.  Once you are signed up you are entitled to a 15% student discount. 

You do not need any previous teaching experience.
